Unai Elgezabal: Statistics and achievements with Levante UD
Our outstanding player, Unai Elgezabal Udondo (25/04/1993), continues to perform at a magnificent level with his team, Levante UD.
The excellent Basque central defender has played all the minutes so far, accumulating 2,160 minutes in the game, adding 23 league matches and one Copa del Rey match. A player with an unquestionable hierarchy, he is emerging as the leader of the Granota defense in what is his first season at Levante UD. The current coach of the team, Julian Calero, knows him perfectly, as he had him under his orders in Burgos CF for three seasons. Together they achieved the coveted promotion from the former Segunda B to Segunda División with the Burgos team, and Unai was always a key player in the schemes of the Madrid-born coach. We are facing a large central defender who is possibly one of the players in the Hypermotion League with the best aerial game, both defensively and offensively. He is a player with great knowledge of the game and is always well positioned on the field. In fact, during his career he has played many times as a defensive midfielder, giving balance to his team. He currently plays as a central defender and is a very winning player in all his defensive duels. Another of his characteristics is his good ball movement, both long and short, which helps his team to launch attacks from the back. He was first captain at Burgos CF, where he was a key player until his signing this summer by Levante UD. Levante UD is classified in playoff positions with 39 points, just 3 points behind the second position, which would lead to direct promotion to the First Division.
