An unforgettable debut that confirms a career built with effort and perseverance.
Today we are in luck at Mesas Sport before a unique moment in the career of our outstanding goalkeeper Laro Gómez Rodríguez (10/16/2006).
The moment lived on Saturday at the José Zorrilla Stadium, debuting with his team, Racing de Santander, and also as a starter, is a day that Laro will never forget. Moments like this justify all the training in the rain, all the long trips, all the efforts, and all the hours of silent work behind this debut. Moments that arrive without making noise, but that remain forever in the memory. And for Laro Gómez, that day already has a date, January 3, 2026.
The young goalkeeper from Santander debuted as a starter with the first team of Real Racing Club de Santander, experiencing one of those moments that mark a before and after in the career of any footballer. A debut that not only speaks of talent but of a well-constructed process and a confidence gained step by step.
Born in Santander on October 16, 2006, Laro trained from a very young age in the lower categories of Racing, completing all his growth until reaching the Honor Division Youth. A goalkeeper of character, he always understood that the road is not immediate, but it is firm for those who are willing to work.
Still in his youth, he made a brave decision, leaving home to toughen up in senior football. His loan to Escobedo, in 2nd Federation, was a major challenge, but also a golden opportunity. There, Laro responded with maturity, regularity, and outstanding performances that attracted attention and reinforced his confidence under the posts.
This season he returned to the Racing discipline to carry out the preseason with the first team and assume the responsibility of defending the goal of Rayo Cantabria, continuing his growth and waiting for his moment. And football, which almost always returns what is given to it, decided to reward him.
His debut as a starter is no coincidence. It is the reflection of constant work, a strong mentality, and a solid formation, both sports and personal.
In addition, Laro grew up breathing football from home. He is the son of Víctor Manuel Gómez “Vichi”, current goalkeeper coach of the RS Gimnástica de Torrelavega and former goalkeeper, a key figure who has been able to transmit values, knowledge, and respect for a position as demanding as it is special.
Mesas Sport
From Mesas Sport we celebrate this special debut convinced that it represents much more than a first game, it is the confirmation that the chosen path was the correct one and that hard work and perseverance bear fruit.
The first big step has already been taken, now it’s time to continue growing, learning, and dreaming.
Congratulations Laro!!
